I have recently moved and am encountering all of the wonderful and challenging aspects of such a move. I now live a couple of blocks from Lake Michigan, (essentially an inland ocean, for those of you who have never been to the Great Lakes). It is an astonishingly beautiful place. And I am finding my way here—into community, into a new pattern of life, even into the training of an adorable but demanding puppy. In all of these beginnings, there is challenge and there is joy, potentially. Keeping myself in practice—meditation is so foundational and life-giving— as well as developing and deepening relationships, will get me through this time in a way that allows me to enjoy it fully. Some days it is easier than others. Right now the puppy is curled up, sleeping, and the sunshine is warming away the last vestiges of wintertime as spring begins its reclamation project. I feel sunshiny inside as a result. I will remember this sweet moment (I hope) during the more challenging times—and I hope the same for you, wherever you find yourself today.
